How to play Canfield Solitaire

Bring your attention to one round of Canfield Solitaire. Complete four suited foundations beginning at the dealt base rank and wrapping king to ace. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Read the objective before making your first input. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Thirteen reserve cards, four columns, draw-three recyclable stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

Make the controls familiar

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Complete four suited foundations beginning at the dealt base rank and wrapping king to ace. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Review the board or playing area as it changes.

Step by step

  1. Build tableau runs down in alternating colours, wrapping ace to king. Reserve cards refill empty columns automatically.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Check any mode label before starting.

A useful example

With base rank 5, a foundation runs 5 through king, then ace through 4. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Keep the controls nearby.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
