How to play Word Search

Open Word Search, check the instructions and begin a round. Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Make your first input carefully and watch the result. Look at what changes after your first action.

Each board contains eight target words from the included English word list.

A useful comparison

Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Notice the feedback after each input.

Your goal

Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Step by step

  1. Select the first and last letter of a straight word.
  2. Words can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, in either direction.
  3. Find all eight targets.
  4. New puzzle shuffles again.

Controls

Tap or click endpoints. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. A new-round button replaces the current round.

A useful example

Selecting the endpoints in reverse order also finds the same word. Compare this with the rule that governs the move. Check the stated objective.

Watch out for this

Words cannot turn corners. Compare the situation with the worked example. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
